How To Get Your Body To Produce More Anti-Oxidants For Faster Recovery

by Katherine Crawford

Anti oxidants can have an immediate impact on your health in the here and now. They aren't just for warding off disease in the distant future.

Sadly, many people lack the right knowledge for getting their bodies to produce more anti oxidants.

So here are some simple strategies for getting your body to produce more:

1. Have more cysteine: An amino acid, cysteine is found in foods like eggs and whey protein. This is yet another reason to have a whey protein shake right after your workout. Also, egg yolks are fine as long as you have them in moderation.

2. Don't expose yourself to toxins: While you can't completely eliminate all toxins, you can reduce your exposure. One simple way to do this is to drink filtered water. Avoid any type of tap water as it can be contaminated.

3. Have more bell peppers: They are loaded with vitamin C and don't have hardly any calories in them. The key here is to eat them fresh. You see, vitamin C is a precursor to glutathione which is the most powerful anti oxidant your body can produce.

4. Have more brazil nuts: And remember that plant saturated fat is different from animal saturated fat. The former is much healthier for you. The good thing about brazil nuts is that they have a lot of selenium, a precursor for glutathione production.

5. Supplement with alpha lipoic acid: This anti oxidant is another precursor for glutathione. And studies have shown that it's extremely safe. As an added bonus, it also helps get more sugar into your active tissues versus fatty tissues.

6. Stay away from seafood that has toxins: Specifically, stay away from farm raised fish and stay away from large pelagic species. Both of these increase the amount of toxins your body has to deal with. And more toxins translate into less anti oxidant production.

Getting your body to produce more anti oxidants will help you by leaps and bounds. They key here is to understand that it will help you in the present, not just the distant future.
