Victims of Abuse
Victims of abuse can suffer from one or more different forms of abuse, and often suffer from symptoms other than the abuse they receive, this could include:
- Stress and anxiety
- Feeling of loneliness and isolation
- Low self esteem and lack of confidence
- Depression
- Eating disorders
- Insomnia
Counselling for victims of physical abuse
Abuse counselling offers anyone who is experiencing physical abuse a confidential and supportive environment in which to explore their situation, the effects that it is having and the options they may have to keep themselves safe.
Counselling for victims of mental or emotional abuse
Abuse counselling for anyone experiencing mental or emotional abuse offers reassurance and support so that they can begin to understand their situation more fully and decide what they might do to regain some control over their life.
Counselling for victims of sexual abuse and survivors of sexual abuse
People who are experiencing or have experienced sexual abuse often have to cope with emotional, psychological, sexual and physical difficulties as a result.

The Elm Therapists’ counsellors are there to be understanding and help those who need to manage abusive behaviour and to deal with their personal issues and difficulties. Also to explore ways in which they may keep themselves safe from acting out abusive behaviour and, importantly, to seek other forms of help or treatment where appropriate.
